Thai police have arrested 14 suspects from its wanted list after sending them fake 'letters of happiness' according to which they allegedly won lotteries, local television said on Friday.

Thai police have arrested 14 suspects from its wanted list after sending them fake 'letters of happiness' according to which they allegedly won lotteries, local television said on Friday.

Last week police sent over 2,000 letters to wanted suspects congratulating them on their "winnings" in summer lotteries and asking to stop by a definite company office to collect the prize money.

On Thursday, 14 people out of the over 2,000 list appeared at the fake offices to collect their money and were arrested by police. Some of them were wanted for half year, while others for over two years.

"I have been thinking the whole morning whether to go or not to go grab a winning check from one big supermarket. I wanted to go, but somehow felt uneasy... Eventually, I decided to go and was caught," said an elderly woman, who has been wanted for avoiding paying a huge traffic fine.
