Ten people died and two were injured in a coach accident in Malaysia's northwest city of Ipoh in the early hours of Saturday, the Xinhua news agency said.
The double-decker express coach reportedly skidded and hit a road divider on the North-South Highway linking northern and southern ends of the Peninsular Malaysia.
A local traffic police officer was quoted by the news agency as saying the coach-hit metal barrier on the left side of the road pierced into the bus, which was believed as the main reason for the tragedy. The dead and the injured were seated on the lower tier of the bus, he said.
The coach driver was reportedly detained for investigation.
