Preparations are nearing completion in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday to launch the world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai skyscraper.
Some 14,000 workers are putting finishing touches to the super-skyscraper, which will be officially opened on Monday.
The exact height of the Dubai skyscraper whose construction began more than five years ago will be announced only after the opening ceremony. The building is known to be more than 800 meters (2,625 feet) tall.
Some media have suggested that the skyscraper will be 818 meters (2,684 feet) tall.
When launched, the skyscraper in the heart of Dubai will feature 56 elevators, luxury apartments, boutiques, swimming pools, spas, exclusive corporate suites, a hotel, and an observation platform.
The construction of Burj Dubai, estimated as costing more than $1 billion, is a part of a $20-billion project in Dubai's new downtown area. However, the completion of many development projects in Dubai has been delayed by the global economic recession.
