Russia's Yevgeny Plushchenko returned to competitive figure skating after almost three years away taking the gold of the 2010 European Figure Skating Championship in Estonia's Tallinn.
Plyushchenko retired after winning the gold at the 2006 Turin Olympics in Italy with a virtuoso performance to Puccini's Tosca.
He also conquered many hearts in his homeland and overseas with diverse shows, including one routine to the Tom Jones hit Sex Bomb.
The reigning Olympic champion said he would go for another Olympic top spot after taking the European gold.
"It wasn't an Olympic performance today. I have to do a second quad," he said.
Stephane Lambiel of Switzerland took the silver medal, repeating the scenario of 2006 Turin Olympics and finishing behind Plushchenko.
