Four Afghan soldiers were killed and one wounded in a Taliban attack on the governor of the central east Wardak province, private television channel Tolo said on Saturday.
A remote-controlled land mine targeted the motorcade of the governor and a number of provincial officials en route from the province's center Maidan Shar to Jaghatu on Friday.
None of the officials was injured.
In a separate incident, NATO helicopters destroyed a car carrying two suicide bombers in Chak on Friday, a spokesman for the Wardak governor said. The car packed with explosives was heading to Maidan Shar.
