A miner was killed as a ceiling collapsed at West Siberia's Raspadskaya mine owned by a leading Russian coal producer, on Saturday, a spokesman for the country's top investigations committee said.
The committee said these were preliminary reports and that the accident occurred at about 02.00 p.m. local time (07:00 GMT).
The killed worker was born in 1970. Rescuers evacuated 244 miners.
An investigation is underway.
