The number of UN personnel killed in a recent quake in Haiti has reached 92, while another seven officials remained unaccounted for, the head of the UN mission said on Monday.
"As of today, we can officially confirm the deaths of 92 UN staff. Another 13 UN officials were wounded and seven people are still missing," Edmond Mulet said during a video-link conference between Port-au-Prince and New York.
The UN Headquarters in the Christopher Hotel was leveled in the 7.1-magnitude earthquake which devastated Port-au-Prince on January 12, killing over 170,000 people.
The former head of the UN mission to Haiti, Hedi Annabi of Tunisia, his Brazilian deputy, Luiz Carlos da Costa and Police Commissioner Doug Coats of Canada were among the dead.
