Private investors have contributed almost 500 billion rubles ($16.5 billion) for construction of facilities and preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
"Due to the crisis, private investment has not been going at the rates previously planned. But despite that, we have received 500 billion rubles of private investment," Putin told journalists in the Russian southern resort after a video link with Vancouver, where the 2010 Winter Games open on Friday.
"This is a good result," he said.
