Polar bear cubs that were born at Moscow’s zoo three months ago started venturing outside their lair in February.

The little bears have been exploring the enclosure over the past few days and now they play…

…and eat in the open air.

“Just like in the wild, the mother bear has led her cubs for the first walk herself. The walks were very short and the mother closely followed the little bears,” the zoo employees say.

The polar bear cubs can now spend up to a half an hour in the open air.

They roll in the snow, chase one another and try to get into the swimming pool.

“The little bears love playing with balls,” Yelena Mendosa, spokeswoman for the Moscow Zoo, told RIA Novosti.

The mother bear is always watching them carefully and sometimes she plays with them.

The duration of walks will increase if the mother bear permits.

“Those who are lucky to see the little bears playing are charged with positive emotions. One can’t help smiling,” the zoo’s press service says.

Moscow’s Zoo has four grown-up polar bears, two male and two female.
