The Moscow government has approved the holding of a stage of the world freestyle motocross competition series on Red Square in June 2010, a city official told RIA Novosti on Friday.
"Moscow authorities have granted the request by the Russian Motorcycle Federation to hold a stage of the world freestyle motocross competition on June 25-26," he said.
The source added the competition is to be financed by the organizer. Moscow will help the Russian Motorcycle Federation with administering the event.
He said streets in downtown Moscow would be closed and public transportation schedules and routes would be changed near the area where the event is to be held. He also added that trolleybus power lines would be removed near viewer stands during the event for safety reasons.
