At least 7 people have died and two have been injured when a truck fell into a ravine in central Peru, local radio has reported.
The accident took place on Saturday in the Huanuco region, some 250 kilometers (155 miles) to the north of the country's capital, Lima, RPP radio said. The truck reportedly drove off the road and plunged into the ravine.
Preliminary investigation showed speeding was a possible cause of the accident, the radio report said.
Speeding, as well as the poor condition of roads and vehicles, are common causes of accidents, which, according to official statistics, claim some 3,500 lives annually in the Latin American state. Annual economic damage from such accidents is estimated at $1 billion.
