The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry deployed its mobile field hospital in the earthquake-hit region of Puente Alto in Chile on March 14

Most of the region’s healthcare facilities were destroyed, so Russia’s field hospital will have a lot of work on its hands

It took Russian rescuers about four hours to put up the field hospital and unload the medical equipment and supplies

The medical team erected three operating rooms, a resuscitation unit, an intensive care unit, a diagnostics center and an outpatient room in a local school gymnasium

The “rooms” are inflated modules that resemble ordinary tents until they are put together

The field hospital has the facilities to perform the most complicated operations

The hospital has approximately 60 beds for serious and critical patients

The hospital’s surgeons, trauma specialists, pediatricians and general physicians are also ready to receive up to 150 patients in stable condition

Chilean doctors who can speak Russian will work together with the Russian rescuers

On Sunday, Russian doctors treated six Chileans injured by the earthquake. The hospital’s resuscitation unit had three patients on early Monday. Photo: Russian mobile field hospital before commencing its work

Two Russian EMERCOM aircraft arrived in Chile on Saturday
