Pelluhue, a city in the south of Chile, cannot recover from the tsunami that swept it 20 minutes after the February 27 earthquake. It smells of rotten fish and there are fragments of destroyed buildings and cars scattered all over it. Local authorities reported over the radio that 41 people are registered missing.
There is no electricity, and the main street is the only one that is drivable –local residents have already cleared it. The water supply has just been restored but it will take these Chileans a long time to return to a normal life.
