Valentin Yudashkin opened the Volvo Fashion Week in Moscow with his Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 collection.

Yudashkin said this collection marks a return to the 1980s, when the designer began his career in fashion. The focus is on strict hourglass silhouettes and defined shoulder lines.

The new collection boasts plenty of fur, including loose fur coats, jackets and hats resembling papakha, or traditional Cossack headgear

The designer focused on achieving a layered look for his fabrics, choosing faded shades of grey and black as the principal colors of his autumn/winter collection.

The collection debuted in the beginning of March in Paris, in honor of the Year of France in Russia.

Valentin Yudashkin emphasized that his collection is untitled. “It is different. Different in perception, color and philosophy. Fashion changes, and so do women’s senses.”

“The women of today are more active. They are involved in business, sports, public life and politics. Their outfits have changed too,” Yudashkin said.

Miss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova was the designer’s new muse. Her appearance on the catwalk was greeted with a storm of applause.
