Russia believes current gas contracts with Ukraine are fair, but will start talks on the issue that could touch upon a gas price reduction for Kiev, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
"We agreed that there are no topics closed to discussion," Putin said at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Azarov in the Moscow Region.
Putin also said Russia is positive about the idea of creating a consortium with Ukraine to modernize the Ukrainian gas transportation system and that it is ready to invest funds into the project.
