Russia has agreed to lend Bolivia $100 million to buy Russian helicopters to help tackle drug trafficking, Mexican media said on Saturday.
Russian Prime Minister held talks with Bolivian President Evo Morales during his visit to Venezuela on Friday.
"We need to buy helicopters on credit to fight illegal drugs trade. We have made this request to many countries, and only Russia has agreed to meet our request," Morales said after the talks
He added that considerable progress had been made in enhancing bilateral cooperation in the energy sphere.
"We have reached an agreement with Gazprom [Russia's gas giant] on cooperation in three gas fields and [we] would like it if investment into this sector came from both Venezuela and Russia," Morales said.
The president said it was paramount that Russia return to Latin America for the sake of the "economic and geo-political balance in the world."
