At least 18 people have been injured after a bus collided with a truck in Saratov in south Russia, the Volga area emergencies center said on Sunday.
The incident occurred early on Sunday when a truck driving towards a food store in Saratov hit a Mercedes bus. Sixteen people have been hospitalized with brain and limb injuries while two passengers with light injuries received medial aid on the scene, the emergencies center said.
Police are investigating the causes of the incident.
Over 30,000 people lose their lives in traffic accidents in Russia every year. President Medvedev earlier blamed the carnage on the poor state of the country's roads, as well as a "lack of discipline, and the criminal negligence of drivers."
