The commissioner for EU enlargement will visit Georgia on April 7-9, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said on Monday.
Stefan Fule will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and other top officials, as well as leaders of the opposition.
"The main objective of the visit is to observe the political situation, stability and security in Georgia, as well as a discussion of issues of cooperation with the EU," Kalandadze said.
She also said that Georgia had asked the EU to send independent observers for local elections due on May 30, adding that Fule would study the preparations for the polls.
