Overthrown Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev urged the United Nations on Sunday to send its peacekeepers to the Central Asian republic to prevent further riots following the recent uprising that killed 81 people.
The president who fled the capital after his government was overthrown in the April 7-8 riots said he wanted an independent international probe into the events.
Kyrgyzstan's provisional government is considering arresting Bakiyev and put him on trial for the deaths of 81 people during the uprising.
