The acting president of Poland might make an announcement on the date of early presidential elections on Wednesday, the country's TVN24 channel said on Tuesday.
Bronislaw Komorowski told the channel it was "absolutely necessary" to set the election date as soon as possible to overcome the period of uncertainty, which started when the country's president, Lech Kaczynski, died in a plane crash in western Russia.
According to the country's constitution, the elections should take place within two months of the announcement.
The president and first lady died along with 94 other people in the plane crash near Smolensk on Saturday morning.
The delegation of top public figures was on its way to pay tribute to some 20,000 Polish officers executed by Soviet secret police in 1940.
