Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday blasted some U.S. media for using excessively mild words to describe terrorists.
Medvedev said the position of "some U.S. newspapers" who "call terrorists 'rebels'" was an "insult" to the memory of those killed in the recent deadly terrorist attacks on the Moscow subway.
The Russian president, who answered questions at a U.S. think tank, spoke Russian but said the word "rebels" in English.
Western media often use the words "rebels" or "independence fighters" in cases when Russia, in line with its official position, can only use "militants," "separatists" or even stronger words.
