The Hawker 4000 has been shown in Russia. The world’s only business jet constructed of advanced composite materials was presented at Vnukovo-3 Airport on Monday.

The plane features an industry-first carbon-fiber fuselage. The designers describe this light, strong and quite inexpensive material as the future of aviation.

“Due to the American Hawker 4000’s carbon-fiber fuselage, the plane weighs just over 15 tons, is able to reach speeds of up to 900 km/h and has a range of 6,000 km,” Alexander Shubin, a company representative, told RIA Novosti.

The idea to create the next generation plane of composite materials was conceived in the 1990s in the United States.

The designers wanted to build an airplane with a range sufficient for transatlantic flights.

It took the designers more than 10 years to certify the new material. This exotic construction first appeared in Europe and North America about two years ago.

This year, a Russian company has purchased this plane as well.

According to the Russian company’s representatives, the only minus of this plane is that it can accommodate only eight passengers.

At the same time most private air companies are taken aback by its “excessive” cost – $20 million.
