The volcanic ash cloud, which is drifting over Europe from an eruption in Iceland, will remain there for four to five days, AFP news agency quoted the Icelandic meteorological service as saying on Saturday.
At the moment, wind is pushing the mass of volcanic ash from Iceland to Europe and, according to forecasts, this will continue for at least another two days and possibly until the middle of next week, the meteorological report said.
Professor Gudmundson, who is observing the active volcano, said on Friday that there is still no certainty about what it will do.
"Eruptions could stop tomorrow, but they could also continue disrupting normal air transport for several weeks or even months," he said.
On Saturday a dense dark-grey 8.5 meter high column of smoke was seen above the volcano.
Iceland sits on a large volcanic hot spot in the Atlantic's mid-oceanic ridge. The volcano last erupted on March 21. Before that it had been dormant since 1821, when eruptions lasted for two years.
