Uzbek President Islam Karimov will begin a two-day official visit to Russia on Monday, an Uzbek presidential spokesman has said.
During his stay in Moscow, Karimov will discuss the broadening of bilateral relations with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, as well as a number of regional and international issues.
"The signing of a range of bilateral documents intended to strengthen cooperation between the two states in various spheres is expected to take place during the talks," the spokesman said.
Russia and Uzbekistan, along with the other former Soviet republics of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, are members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), described by Russia's national security strategy as "a key mechanism for countering regional military challenges and threats.
