The World Expo 2010 fair in Shanghai may expand bilateral cooperation between Russia and China, a counselor on trade and economic issues from the Chinese embassy in Russia said on Wednesday.
"Expo 2010 in Shanghai will create a broad platform to expand the level of cooperation between Russia and China. I hope the parties will use this opportunity, expand mutual understanding and confidence," according to a statement sent to RIA Novosti.
He added the financial crisis worsened the economies of both countries, which also burdened the economic relations between Russia and China.
The 2010 World Expo fair is to run from May 1 to October 31 under the motto "Better City - Better Life." Some 70 million visitors are expected to attend the event.
