A safe containing 15 million rubles ($515,000) was stolen from an office in downtown Moscow, a local police official said on Thursday.
A company director told police that unknown men in masks had broken into the office located near Taganskaya metro station at around 20.00 Moscow Time (15:00 GMT), tied him up and ordered him to open the safe.
The businessman refused and the thieves took the safe and fled the scene.
The police official said the businessman only managed to untie himself at around midnight and immediately called police.
"He said there were 15 million rubles in the safe," the spokesman said.
Investigators rushed to the scene following the call.
