Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin rounded off the first day of a two-day visit to the Austrian capital of Vienna on Saturday by attending the European judo championships.
Earlier in the day, Putin had overseen the signing of a deal to bring Austria into the South Stream gas pipeline project.
"Today was an interesting day, and tomorrow will be even more interesting," Putin, who is a judo black belt and an honorary president of the European judo union, said in German.
He also said judo was a battle of "style and philosophy."
Putin is also the co-author of a book entitled "Let's Learn Judo with Vladimir Putin".
