Fifteen people were injured in Kabardino-Balkaria on Saturday when an explosive device went off at a racetrack where leaders of the Russian North Caucasus republic were attending May Day races.
The republic's emergencies ministry said two of the injured were in serious condition.
Some reports said the blast occurred near the main entrance to the racetrack, while others said an explosive device was laid under the government platform in the main stand.
"Right now, ambulances are taking the wounded from the racetrack," an eyewitness told RIA Novosti.
A law-enforcement source said the strength of the explosion was equivalent to about five kilograms of TNT.
