One of the victims of the bombing in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria on Saturday has died and the number of injured has risen to 20, a security source said.
"The total number of injured in the explosion was 21 people. One of them died, another remains in critical condition," he said.
The press service of the republic's emergencies ministry reported that Said Shebzukhov, a World War II veteran born in 1906, died during surgery at Nalchik's main hospital.
The explosion occurred at the Nalchik racetrack during May Day horse races.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service to investigate the explosion and to ensure security in the republic, the presidential press service said.
Medvedev was briefed by the president of Kabardino-Balkaria, Arsen Kanokov, on measures being taken to assist victims and to maintain public order following the blast.
