The Russian pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai opened to the public on May 1.

Most of the first visitors to Expo began their tour at the Russian pavilion. They were drawn by the flag-raising ceremony which marked the opening of the Russian pavilion and a general interest in Russia. The photo shows a display entitled “city of talents.”

The first visitors to the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai formed long lines on Saturday waiting for the chance to admire the exhibits at the Russian pavilion, which is considered to be one of the main attractions of the event.

Visitors get to learn about Russia achievements and try traditional Russian cousine.

Most of the visitors agree that the architecture of the Russian pavilion is unique and "stands out among the other exhibits"

"The pavilion is Russia, and it provides an opportunity for everyone to see Russia's vision and plans for the future ," Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Russian participation in Expo-2010 Viktor Khristenko said.

The pavilion showcases Russia's recent scientific developments.

It also showcases Russia's economic developments and offers a diverse cultural program.

The 6,000-square-meter pavilion, dominated by fairy-tale motifs, shows a comfortable city environment as seen through children's eyes.

World Expo 2010 will run from May 1 to October 31. 192 countries and 49 international organizations will take part in the exhibition, which is dedicated to urban civilization. The Shanghai World Expo is expected to attract 70 million visitors during the 184 days it is open.
