Over 500 fountains have returned to life all over Moscow. Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov has been activating the symbolic fountain faucet since the first water cascade season was opened in an impressive setting 14 years ago.
Moscow has about 600 water cascades, including courtyard fountains created on the initiative of city residents. Fountains on the Poklonnaya Hill, Manezh Square, the Third Transport Ring junction near Kutuzovskaya metro station and the Rape of Europe fountain in front of Kievsky railroad terminal will operate round the clock. The rest will function every day from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. All the fountains will be switched off and mothballed in mid-fall.
