The heavy nuclear-powered cruiser Pyotr Veliky, the flagship of the Russian Navy’s Northern Fleet, conducted simulated high-seas rescue operations in the Indian Ocean.
Under the exercise scenario, the Pyotr Veliky dispatched a damage-control team to the Guards guided missile cruiser Moskva after her crew failed to contain a fire raging aboard the ship.
After the Moskva became completely disabled at the end of the exercise, the Pyotr Veliky took her in tow.
