The rehearsal started right on time - with an address by the defense minister and congratulations on Victory Day.

About 1,000 foreign servicemen, including from the Royal Regiment of Wales, marched in columns through Red Square.

All branches and services of the Russian Armed forces will be represented at the parade.

In the most spectacular part of the parade, heavy military hardware roars into the square.

During the V-Day Parade, MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters and Su-25 Frogfoot close-support aircraft will fly over Red Square in a “65” formation -- MiG-29s (the figure “6”) and Su-25s (the figure “5”).

An Il-78 Midas military transport aircraft (front), Su-24 Fencer frontline bombers (back) and Yak-130 trainers (right and left) took part in the rehearsal…

… as did Mi-8 helicopters.

The final stage of the parade will feature a march of military bands from the United States (Navy), Britain (RAF), France (Ground Forces) and Russia - a total of 1,200 musicians.

Security during the rehearsal was ensured by snipers.
