The Uzbek Uzavtosanoat company and the German auto concern Daimler AG on Friday signed an agreement for creating a joint venture producing Mercedes-Benz buses, a source from the Uzbek government said.
The venture will provide tourist, city and intercity buses for Uzbekistan and other Central Asian states. Its charter fund is $8 mln, the source revealed.
"The parties have agreed a 51% [stake] of the joint venture to belong to Daimler AG subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Buses Central Asia GmbH and 49% stake to Uzavtosanoat," the source said.
Uzavtosanoat will create the production plant. Daimler Buses will supply the chassis, while the bodyworks will be produced in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz's long-time partner Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles (MCV).
