Russia and Turkey could increase bilateral trade to $100 billion over the next five years, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday.
"If we manage to do it, Russia and Turkey will turn into the largest trade partners. This is the level worthy of our countries' potential," Medvedev said at a meeting with business circles during his visit to Turkey.
During the Russian leader's visit, Moscow and Ankara signed deals which could bring over $25 billion in mutual investment in both countries.
Russian-Turkish trade stood at $19.6 billion in 2009, down almost 40% from 2008. In January and February, however, trade grew about 30% year-on-year, and is still on the rise.
