Dozens of miners and 19 rescuers were trapped in the mine by the second blast. As of Friday, May 14, the death toll included 66 miners and rescuers sent to help the victims of the first blast. Twenty-four people are still missing.
A Victory Parade was held in all Russian cities on May 9 to commemorate the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). The main parade was held in Moscow. Units from the Allied countries took part in the Moscow parade this year.
