The Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday cautioned its nationals against visiting Bangkok amid the "deteriorating security situation" in the protest-hit Thai capital.
Violence broke out on Thursday night after government troops were deployed to end opposition riots, which have been ongoing since March 14. Protesters are demanding the dissolution of parliament and early elections.
At least 2 people were killed and some 20 injured in clashes on Friday.
The Russian Foreign ministry advised Russians visiting Thailand to avoid going to Bangkok.
A state of emergency has been imposed in 17 Thai provinces, where the opposition has support. The regions include Pattaya, a popular resort of Russian tourists, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand.
