Chile's billionaire president, Sebastian Pinera, has sold Chilevision television station, his last major asset, for an estimated $130 million, the Chilean media reported on Sunday.
Pinera, the first democratically elected center-right politician in Chile in the past few decades who assumed office in March, pledged during his election campaign to dispose of his assets as their possession according to him was incompatible with the high state post and caused a conflict of interest.
Pinera who was ranked 701st in the Forbes List of the World's Wealthiest People in 2009 with an estimated net worth of $1 billion sold the TV station to a local group, Linzor Capital Partners.
Earlier, Pinera sold medical clinic Condes and the controlling stake in air company LAN Airlines.
The transaction for the sale of the TV station will be finalized within two months and will bring in $24 million in taxes for the state coffers, the media reported.
