U.S. President Barack Obama received a group of teenage Russian athletes in the White House and played basketball with them, a spokesman for the National Security Council said
The game came as part of May 17-28 visit to Washington by a group of 22 Russian athletes, aged between 13-15, and their four coaches. The trip is taking place as part of sporting exchanges between Russia and the United States.
Spokesman Mike Hammer said the program is aimed at helping the Russian children to become more familiar with sport in the United States, as well as to promote dialogue between U.S. and Russian youth.
The visit also includes meetings with players from the National Basketball Association (NBA), basketball games with their American peers, teambuilding and other events.
