Turkish authorities have not ruled out a plane may have crashed on the border between Turkey and Georgia, CNN-Turk television reported on Tuesday.
A powerful explosion was heard on Tuesday evening near a village in Turkey's Posof region that borders the Georgian region of Ardahan.
"According to unconfirmed reports a powerful explosion occurred on the border with Georgia," CNN-Turk quoted Turkey's acting governor, Ali Fuad Atyk, as saying, adding: "The information we have received leads to believe an airplane has crashed."
The governor is presently on his way to the site of the explosion and has mobilized the appropriate government bodies.
