The 20th European Armwrestling Championships opened on Wednesday in the Moscow Region city of Mytischi, bringing together athletes from 23 countries.
"The XX European Championship is held between June 2 and 5. The competition involves 600 athletes, including men, women, juniors, disabled athletes and veteran athletes over 40," said a statement from the Moscow Region's Ministry of Press and Information.
Alexander Filimonov, the president of the Russian Armsport Association, said athletes participating in the event are from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Britain, the Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Georgia and other countries.
The championship is held at the Mytischi Arena, with a capacity of 9,000.
