Russia’s first wakeboard park has opened in Strogino, Moscow, providing a place for extreme wakeboarders to perform their stunts.Wakeboarding is an extreme sport where riders perform tricks as they are towed across the water by a boat or a winch, the rider hanging on to a tow rope. According to wakeboarder Dmitry Kazachkov, it is similar to snowboarding.
Wakeboarding began in 1992, with global competition becoming common in 1998.
Wakeboard demonstrations are included in the sports program of the international forum “Russia as a Sports Power.” The best Russian wakeboarders, as well as invited stars, will participate in a show to mark the anniversary of the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
