Presidential Aide Arkady Dvorkovich played chess with a robot. Dvorkovich took the first game, but artificial intelligence evened the score in the return match. The head of the Russian Chess Federation’s supervisory board confessed that this was the first time he could find the courage to play a machine.
The robot that played Dvorkovich was created by Russian engineers using the latest technology. It can move the chess pieces and can play three opponents simultaneously. It can play against itself endlessly. The designers are confident that it is virtually impossible to outplay this “chess master.”
This unusual game was presented by the First Robot Chess Championship. Leading industrial robot producers, software developers and engineers will come to Russia to participate in the championship in 2011. Organizers promise the Championship will become the Formula One for intellectual machines developers.
