The next G8 summit will take place in France's Nice, an aide to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.
"France has not yet announced concrete dates, but as far as I can understand, the G8 [summit] is planned for the summer [of 2011] and the G20 [summit] for the fall [of 2011]," Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters in Canada's Huntsville, where the G8 summit took place on Friday and Saturday.
After the summit, leaders of the eight major economies flew to Toronto for the G20 summit to continue top-level talks together with heads of emerging economies.
Dvorkovich said the idea of holding the G8 and the G20 summits in 2011 one after another was discussed by the G8 leaders, but "no concrete decision" has been taken.
"There are advantages and disadvantages of holding the summits within a close time period," he said.
"We want to maintain mutual trust between all partners and to avoid concerns that the G8 makes decisions in private and then bring them to the G20," Dvorkovich said.
