UEFA President Michel Platini was taken to a hospital in South Africa's Johannesburg after he fainted in one of the city's restaurants, the Sky Sports News reported on Saturday.
It was initially reported that 55 year-old former Juventus star suffered a heart attack, but a medical examination did not confirm the reports.
"I am here in London but I talked to the assistant who was with him and it seems it is just fainting, linked with not really taking any food today because he has a cold and a bit of a fever," the portal quoted UEFA advisor William Gaillard as saying.
Platini has apparently been suffering from flu-like symptoms because of the cold weather in South Africa.
"It's cold there. A lot of people have a cold, the flu, they have a fever. That could explain it," Gaillard told The Press Association.
"All the preliminary exams are negative. He's conscious, he's fine. They may carry out more tests because when a well-known person faints they normally do that but I've been told not to worry. It's nothing serious," he added.
