Moscow city government is planning to introduce a law to make fluent Russian obligatory for the capital's taxi drivers.
The bill will outline a number of requirements for taxi drivers to be included on the Moscow list of official drivers.
"Speaking fluent Russian and having a good knowledge of the Moscow roads are requirements," the bill said.
Taxi drivers will have to answer a series of questions to test their Russian and knowledge of Moscow.
The drivers will also have to display their details, photo, and tariffs in full view of the passenger.
Environmental safety requirements for taxi cabs will also be tightened.
