British authorities have revoked citizenship from a Russian involved in the recent spy scandal between Russia and the United States, Sky News television channel reported on Tuesday.
Ten people were arrested by the U.S. law enforcement on June 27 on suspicion of being part of an espionage ring spying for Russia. An 11th suspect was detained on June 29 in Cyprus, but reports the following day said police on the island were looking for him after he apparently skipped bail.
The British Foreign Office, however, has not officially confirmed that Russian spy Anna Chapman, 28, was deprived of her British passport.
A source from the UK Border Agency said earlier that the Home Secretary is authorized to withdraw British passport only from those who have dual citizenship.
Last week Russia and the United States ended the spy scandal with a swap deal. Under the deal, which took place in Vienna, Russia pardoned and released four prisoners jailed for spying activities against Russia in exchange for ten people recently accused by the United States of spying for Russia.
