Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday that he sees no other candidates among the opposition in upcoming presidential elections.
"Hopes that they [the opposition] will choose a single candidate...and squash the incumbent president are illusory" Lukashenko said.
Belarus will hold the next presidential elections before February 6, 2011.
Lukashenko also said that he was not preparing for the elections at the moment.
"The most important thing is that we must adopt the budget, the program of the republic's development for the next five years and review the results of the previous five years," Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader, once dubbed by Washington "Europe's last dictator," is making efforts to improve relations with the European Union and the United States.
Lukashenko, 55, has been president since 1994.
