Models from Chechnya will take part in a Moscow fashion week in the fall, the official site of the Chechen president said on Friday.
The statement quoted the head of the Firdaws agency, Malika Varaeva, as saying about 40 girls had acquired all the necessary catwalk skills.
"This fall Chechen models will have to demonstrate their skills at the Moscow fashion week, where they will take part in the Chechen designers' show," Varaeva said.
One of the teachers in the model agency, Mariam Ganaeva, said the agency's students stood out from other models by virtue of their "grace, posture and modesty."
Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has also tried his hand at male modeling. In 2008, the former militant fighter posed for a glossy magazine wearing designer clothes from a number of leading fashion houses.
Kadyrov appeared in the monthly Icons magazine in clothes designed by Giorgio Armani, Polo Ralf Lauren, Alexander McQueen, and Baldessarini, as well as in sunglasses and shoes by Louis Vuitton.
