The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) countries supported the initiative made by Kazakhstan to hold next summit in Astana, Kazakh Foreign Minister and Acting Chair of the OSCE Kanat Saudabayev said.
Kazakhstan, which holds the 2010 chair of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), has proposed holding the organization's next summit in the Kazakh capital of Astana from October 29 - 30.
"Today we came to a consensus on a need to hold the OSCE summit in Astana before the end of this year," Saudabayev said. "God willing, we will welcome you in Astana at the end of the year," he continued.
He added that the decision on the date of the summit is to be made by the OSCE permanent council.
The proposal was made by Saudabayev during an informal meeting of OSCE foreign ministers in the Kazakh city of Almaty. The last such summit was held ten years ago in Istanbul.
